Background: I have been a citizen advocate at the Nevada Legislature every session since 1971. For the last 18 years I have been representing Nevada families full time at the Legislature. I know how the Legislature works. I know how to get things done. As an Independent American, I have successfully worked with both Republicans and Democrats in the Legislature and have earned their respect. I am a mother of four and a grandmother of seven who cares about the future. I graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University. I served as the volunteer Petition Chairman for 16 of Nevada’s 17 counties for the successful Protection of Marriage campaign. I served as the Petition Chairman for the Axe the Tax Campaign to repeal the largest tax increase in Nevada history. I am the founder, publisher and editor of the non-partisan Nevada Families Voter Guide published every election since 1988. Philosophy: I believe our elected officials should follow the Constitution. I signed the No new taxes pledge. We need to cut spending rather than raise taxes. I testified at the Legislature against giving drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens. We need to pass laws like Arizona’s, Oklahoma’s and Missouri’s to protect Nevada’s taxpayers from the soaring costs of illegal immigration. Las Vegas wants the water in rural Nevada. I have continuously supported keeping rural Nevada’s water in rural Nevada. I fully support the right to keep and bear arms and have testified at the Legislature many times if favor of improving Nevada’s gun laws. There are great resources of untapped oil in rural Nevada. I will advocate for the lifting of government prohibitions on exploration, drilling, and refineries thereby increasing Nevada’s oil production.
All legislation passed by the Legislature should be family friendly and consider the economic and social impact on the family.
Independent like Nevada!
