ELKO — Longtime conservative activist
Janine Hansen of Elko will be honored as the Citizen Outreach Foundation’s
“Conservative of the Year” at the May 22 Conservative Leadership Conference
in Las Vegas.
She will be recognized at a special awards luncheon at the M Resort,
according to an announcement from the foundation.
Hansen, an Independent American Party candidate for the Nevada Assembly seat
now held by Assemblyman John Carpenter, R-Elko, is executive director of the
American Independent Party and president of the Nevada Eagle Forum.
She also has been a citizen lobbyist at the Nevada Legislature since 1971
and a full-time lobbyist for Nevada Eagle Forum and the Independent American
Party for the past 18 years.
Hansen is the founder, publisher and editor of the Nevada Families Voter
Guide that has been distributed during each general election since 1988, and
she has spearheaded public policy and ballot initiatives over the years. She
has run for Congress, secretary of state and the Nevada Senate.
“If there is a more experienced, better
qualified, rock-solid conservative challenger candidate for the Nevada
Legislature this year, I haven’t met them yet,” said Chuck Muth, president
of Citizen Outreach Foundation. “If every member of the Legislature
possessed the qualities, values and philosophical beliefs as Janine, our
government wouldn’t be in anywhere near as bad a shape as it’s in today.”
Hansen is a Nevada native and has lived in Elko since 2005.
The one-day conference at the M Resort will feature U.S. Rep. Dean Heller,
R-Nev., as the honorary chairman, and there will be a number of speakers
throughout the day.
Online conference registration can be found at
